KISTA SCIENCE CITY

Kista Science City is much more than “simply” an ICT cluster. A carefully planned public environment, with parks, recreation, shopping, good housing and cultural activities and events, where people enjoy both living and working. In Kista Science City projects are underway to revamp and improve the urban image, through more efficient infrastructure and planning new developments.

Infrastructure
Plans for Kista Science City are beginning to be realised. Preparatory street rebuilding for Kista Science City.
The City Development Administration’s extension of the new street network in Kista’s business areas is a first stage in implementing a structural plan for Kista Science City. This will create a better link between Kista, Husby and Akalla. There are also plans for a gradual expansion with new housing and workplaces in six areas east and west of Kista Gård. The buildings are designed as enclosed blocks surrounding noise-protected yards with entrances towards the street.

In August 2007 the City Development Administration began rebuilding Kistavägen to four lanes between Isafjordgatan and Torshamnsgatan. This stretch of road is also being widened to include pedestrian and cycle paths along Kistavägen. Parts of Grönlandsgången and Torshamnsgatan are also being rebuilt. As part of this street project some large trees must be felled. Work is scheduled to be complete autumn 2008.

Cultural Infrastructure Kista
Cultural Infrastructure Kista is a concrete project that aims to create added value through identifying, developing, conceptualising and manifesting life, movement, culture, the region’s history and to build a hyped brand platform for Kista Science City.
